Hoy hablaremos de algunos de los distintos tipos de láser que hay: láser diodo, láser Alejandrita, láser neodimio-yag, IPL luz pulsada.
Hay otros tipos como láser soprano, láser rubí...
LÁSER DIODO
El láser de diodo es una máquina de una precisión extraordinaria construida con pequeños diodos y semiconductores que todos juntos forman un haz de luz, emite en una longitud de onda de 800-810 Nm y para la refrigeración tiene, en la pieza de mano, un cristal de zafiro. Este tipo de láser penetra algo más en la piel, por lo que está especialmente indicado para pieles más oscuras o para vello más grueso y profundo. También puede funcionar bien para pieles más claras pero siempre que el vello sea grueso o mediano. Es recomendable para partes del cuerpo de gran extensión, como puede ser la espalda o el pecho. Es un tipo muy recomendado para los hombres también. Este tipo de láser es totalmente indoloro y con una media de 5 a 8 sesiones, en la mayoría de los casos, se elimina entre el 80% y el 90% del vello.
LÁSER ALEJANDRITA
El láser Alejandrita emite una longitud de onda de 75 Nm y actúa directamente sobre el pelo hasta llegar al folículo piloso, donde acaba con las células a partir de las cuales empieza a crecer el vello. Este tipo de láser se utiliza en pieles claras, nunca en pieles bronceadas. Es más rápido y tiene un mejor resultado cuando el pelo es grueso y oscuro. Además, permite depilar cualquier zona corporal, incluso facial, excepto las pestañas y la zona inferior de las cejas. El tratamiento con láser Alejandrita es seguro y elimina el vello de forma definitiva. Este tipo de láser puede resultar un poco más “doloroso” que otros. Está recomendado especialmente para la depilación de piernas, axilas e ingles y funcionando también muy bien en la zona de la espalda. El resultado se hace notorio con el paso de las sesiones, que según el vello de cada persona, se adaptará el tratamiento y el intervalo de tiempo de sesión a sesión, pero lo normal es que se haga una sesión cada dos meses aproximadamente.
LÁSER NEODIMIO-YAG
Este tipo de láser emite una onda de 1064 Nm, es de alta frecuencia pero no siempre es eficaz. Es menos utilizado que el láser Diodo porque no todos los tonos de piel responden bien a la potencia del láser Neodimio-yag, en algunos casos se requiere aplicar mayor potencia y esto resulta molesto y doloroso por lo que no se ha popularizado tanto su uso en la eliminación de vello.
Éste tipo de láser está más bien destinado para vello muy grueso y oscuro, y nada eficaz para pieles claras o moreno claro, puede llegar incluso a provocar quemaduras leves.
Actualmente no es muy utilizado el láser Neodimio-yag para la depilación, pero si para la eliminación de tatuajes.
IPL LUZ PULSADA
La IPL o fotodepilacion es de carácter policromático y la luz se mueve en todas las direcciones con distintas longitudes de onda por lo que un mismo aparato puede valer para tratar distintos tipos de vello. Se aplica mediante pulsos de luz. Este pulso de luz provoca un aumento de temperatura en las zonas con más melanina, especialmente en los vellos oscuros, de manera que la raíz acaba quemándose. Es válido tanto para los vellos más oscuros como para los más rubios. Eso sí, su efectividad siempre será mayor en los fototipos más bajos.

The Alexandrian laser emits a wavelength of 75 Nm and acts directly on the hair until it reaches the hair follicle, where it ends with the cells from which the hair begins to grow. This type of laser is used on light skin, never on tanned skin. It is faster and has a better result when the hair is thick and dark. In addition, it allows to shave any body area, even facial, except the eyelashes and the lower area of the eyebrows. Alexandria laser treatment is safe and removes hair permanently. This type of laser can be a little more "painful" than others. It is especially recommended for leg, armpit and english hair removal and also working very well in the back area. The result becomes noticeable with the passage of the sessions, which depending on the hair of each person, will adapt the treatment and the interval of session-to-session time, but it is normal that a session is done every two months approximately.
NEODYMIUM-YAG LASER
This type of laser emits a 1064 Nm wave, is high frequency but is not always effective. It is less used than the Diode laser because not all skin tones respond well to the power of the Neodymium-yag laser, in some cases it is necessary to apply more power and this is annoying and painful so that its use in the removal of Hair.
This type of laser is rather intended for very thick and dark hair, and nothing effective for light or light brown skin, can even cause minor burns.
Currently it is not widely used the Neodymium-yag laser for hair removal, but for tattoo removal.
IPL PULSED LIGHT
IPL or photodepilation is polychromatic in nature and light moves in all directions with different wavelengths so that the same device can be used to treat different types of hair. It is applied by pulses of light. This pulse of light causes an increase in temperature in areas with more melanin, especially in dark hairs, so the root ends up burning. It is valid for both darker and blond hairs. However, its effectiveness will always be higher in the lower phototypes.
